Our company
Sea Technology was founded in 1972 by Bengt Lundquist, a naval architect from Chalmers University of Technology with a degree in mathematics from Lund University. With a career spanning more than five decades, Bengt played a key role in shaping modern ship design, including his tenure as Technical Director at Wallenius Lines, where he helped pioneer RoRo and car carrier innovations.
Over the years, Sea Technology has been involved in the design, construction, and supervision of advanced vessels, oil rigs, and large-scale conversions worldwide, including novel vessel types such as submersibles, oil tankers, and combined container/car carriers.
Today, the company is led by Therese Lundquist, representing the second generation of Sea Technology’s maritime legacy. Under her leadership, the company has evolved into a deep-tech innovator, participating in the Sting Deep Tech incubator and securing support from Trafikverket for applied R&D in collaboration with RISE (Research Institutes of Sweden).
Sea Technology’s current focus is the Sea Tech Floating Terminal (STFT), a next-generation floating port system designed for offshore container transshipment and resilient maritime logistics. The concept has achieved Approval in Principle (AIP) from DNV, confirming its technical feasibility and marking a significant step toward deployment.
Most recently, Sea Technology has entered a strategic partnership with MEYER Floating Solutions, combining Swedish maritime innovation with MEYER’s global shipyard expertise to deliver scalable floating terminal infrastructure worldwide.
Mission
At Sea Technology, our mission is clear, to deliver world-class, proven designs and solutions that redefine how the world moves cargo and uses the ocean. We believe the future of transport lies in making our waters smarter, more efficient, and truly sustainable.
By moving key port operations, off from land, through floating terminals, we can protect sensitive coastal zones, restore marine life, and help accelerate progress toward the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
Traditional ports were built for another era, in locations chosen for historical reasons, now constrained by geography, cost, and environmental impact. Many, like Rotterdam, rely on continuous dredging just to accommodate larger vessels. This model is no longer sustainable. And cannot handle growth.
Sea Technology’s floating port solutions enable a new era of maritime logistics, one where ports can expand capacity offshore, reduce environmental strain, and unlock new business opportunities.
A smarter, cleaner, and more resilient ocean economy - that’s our vision.
Passion
We love the ocean, it’s where our inspiration and innovation begin. At Sea Technology, we combine a deep respect for the sea with smart design and forward-thinking engineering to shape a more sustainable blue economy.
We believe shipping and port operations can be both smarter and kinder to our planet, bringing life back to coastal areas, improving efficiency through reduced loading and offloading times, and creating true win–win solutions for business and the environment.
